The camping facilities at the Udzungwa Forest Campsite are well maintained and provide for all the needs of the traveller in Tanzania. Facilities include :
Set in a patch of teak trees bordering the forest of the Udzungwa Mountains National Park, the Udzungwa Forest Camp boasts four traditional thatched huts, providing a comfortable and secure alternative to sleeping under canvas. Spacious, comfortable and well-decorated, the huts are each furnished with double beds and mosquito nets, and make a great base from which to enjoy the hiking, trekking, birdwatching and other activities available in the Udzungwa Mountains. The thatched huts are a great budget option for those who fancy something a little out of the ordinary, and who enjoy the quiet of the forest night.
Special camping can be arranged within the Udzungwa Mountains National Park itself. You will trek into the rainforest where you will spend the night below the canopy, in a campsite high up on the mountains overlooking the vast openness of the African plains and right on the edge of Sanje Falls, the most spectacular waterfall in southern Tanzania. You will be served breakfast as the sun rises over the Kilombero Valley, and then go swimming in the river before trekking down the mountains and returning to the Udzungwa Forest Camp.
If all this sounds fantastic but you don't wish to travel loaded down with your own camping kit, never fear! The Udzungwa Forest Camp is happy to provide an equipment hire service, including everything you might need for a comfortable night under canvas - tents, campbeds, foam mattresses and so on.
